Tracing its history during the battle of Solferino, Italy on June 24, 1859, the Red Cross Youth of the University of the Philippines Los Baños was established on June 25, 1975 as one of the components of the premier humanitarian movement in the world. It has for many years carried out the Seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality or HINIVUU.
